Treasures

The one good thing about being sick was that I was whisked back home by my mum for some TLC.  I always love popping back because not only am I pumped full of yummy treats and treated like a guest with endless tea and biscuits but I get to rumage through all the crap I don't want to take to my flat but is too precious to throw away.  It's like my own personal jumble sale!

I was only in the mood for wearing pyjamas so I left the clothes well alone and focused on jewellery, and these were my 'choice finds' this time round...
3 x brooches perfect for spring
This was my Aunties when she was my age, Silver Pharoah bracelet (needs to be silver dipped)

A bracelet my mum bought in Spain many moons ago with some cheap ones from who knows where
Polly in my Pocket bracelet!! I must have had this when I was a kid, alas it doesn' t fit now so I'm figuring out what to do with it...
God my wrist is so pale! not cool winter.

Sick Days - I Heart Guts

I have been pretty sick for a week and still am (an utter fail after my glorious birthday of zoo times and bahama mamas) and all I can think about is Lucozade, sleep and how rough I must look and I how I just don't care!  So this is just a quick post because in my pain I was reminded of the great site and shop I Heart Guts and all their fabulous t shirts and soft toys of our innards. They should be gorey but instead are just damn cute, especially the baby clothes...

awwwwwwwwwwwwww

My personal favourite organs, ovary, brain, heart and lungs!

Birthday outfits

It's my birthday on St Patricks day so in my dreams I would be wearing this dress from Charles Anatase's fall collection 2011. Get it? clovers?
But in reality I'll probably be wearing this fantastically gaudy t shirt that I asked for, love it, just chillin, yes I will be.

Lyle's Golden Syrup

Last weekend we had to clean out the cupboards as little beasties have decided to invaded our kitchen. I was going neurotic thinking that they would have nested in everything, turns out the only thing that interested them was Lyles Golden Syrup but I mean who can blame them, it's delicious and a design classic.  I've loved the tin ever since I was little when my mum and me would make gingerbread men, who knows maybe this is where my love for tins came from- my collection is rapidly growing. The tin is a classic and thanks to the lion, bees and typography, it holds that element of nostalgia that I love.  For those who don't know the design comes from Abram Lyle’s religious beliefs: it’s a reference to a story in the Old Testament, in which Samson killed a lion, then saw that bees had formed a honeycomb in the lion’s carcass. The bible references Samson’s words that also feature on the tin “Out of the strong came forth sweetness”.

I took a peep over at  Lyle's Golden Syrup site, great website by the way can't wait to try out the flapjack tips, and found out a few interesting things.

- The first tin was used in 1884 and to this day the packaging has hardly changed! In 2007 it was confirmed by The Guinness World Records as the world's oldest brand.

- During World War 1, metal was in desperately short supply, as all available material was being used for the war effort. So for the duration of the War, the “tin” was made from thick cardboard – the first big change to the packaging in nearly 30 years of production!
So what did I do with the tin? I washed it out and gave it pride of place on the nightstand and it's currently got my rings in it, so pretty.

Nude Green Leaves and Bust by Picasso

Since this went up at work there has been countless media coverage which has meant me dealing with endless enquiries about wanting and having to see the most expensive painting in the world. So, it's fair to say that its been getting on my nerves a bit! However, it is beautiful and I've decided I'll let Pablo off, it might not look like much on a computer screen but it's worth a visit, I found it surprisingly engaging and am quite smug that I can go up and see it whenever I want!

Spring Jackets

As much as I have been dreaming about spring and summer and flouncing around in vest tops and pretty dresses, reality has set in that if spring ever does come it's fair to say that it wont be like we dream and that the mornings and evenings will be chilly, while we sit in beer gardens embracing the al fresco spirit pretending that we are warm.
This thinking and reminiscing about last years weather has led to an unhealthy obsession with jackets/coats/blazers, seriously each one I see I want, and these things don't come cheap with a price tag of £30 upwards so it a dangerous game to start looking at them. But, I'm letting myself off because it's my birthday in 2 weeks and maybe just maybe they could be pressies from me to me or even better actual pressies.

So these are my pic of the bunch and they are all different styles which means I can buy them all right? I mean you can never have too many jackets….

I have already sucumbed to this ASOS distressed leather jacket reduced in the sale!
All of my blazers to date have come from charity shops, vintage stores and Primark so this Jonathon Saunders  jacket would be a real treat and I really want it- £60

LOVE this ASOS stripe collarless mac - £75
A surprise girly jacket from River Island which would be nice to float around it - £44.99

And this Clear red cape mac from Topshop makes me want to go and stand in a field! yay festivals! £35
